Both pair sheer fabric with adjustable vanes, but the construction and look differ. Pirouette® Sheer Shades has soft, contoured horizontal vanes attached to a single sheer panel that rolls cleanly up into a low-profile headrail, so when it's open the view is unobstructed. Silhouette® Sheer Shades uses S-shaped vanes floating between two sheer panels for a softer, more diffused glow. Pirouette® Sheer Shades tends to suit modern and contemporary Bay Area homes that want a clean look when the shade is raised. With the vanes closed they provide good daytime privacy and filtered light, but like all sheers they become translucent after dark when interior lights are on, so silhouettes are visible from outside. For full nighttime privacy we recommend the A Deux™ option, which combines a translucent shade and a room-darkening shade in a single headrail—operate the sheer during the day and lower the room-darkening layer at night. This is the setup we install most often in bedrooms and street-facing rooms.

Yes. Pirouette® Sheer Shades can be custom-fit for floor-to-ceiling glass, sliding glass doors, French doors, bay, box, and corner windows, plus arched, angled, and circular windows. These shapes are common in older Burlingame, Hillsborough, and Peninsula homes, and we template each opening on-site to confirm what's possible with your chosen fabric before anything is ordered.

Pirouette® Sheer Shades offer UV protection that helps guard floors, furniture, and art from sun damage, with protection increasing as you close the vanes.
